More than 170 operatives and nine aircraft are fighting a fire in the Serra de Montejunto, in the municipalities of Cadaval and Alenquer, in the Lisbon region, regional commander Oeste said.
The fire broke out at 14:10 in a forest and eucalyptus area in the Cherkal locality, in the Kadaval municipality. “We are concerned about one of the flanks of the fire, mainly because of the wind, but with the intervention of aviation and the consolidation of firefighters on the ground, we hope to bring the fire under control,” he explained. cm Carlos Silva, commander of Western Relief Operations Command, added that neither houses nor roads were in danger.
By 16:00, 173 operators were fighting the fire with the support of nine aircraft. According to the same official, additional reinforcements should not be called into place yet.
