Tita answers the questions of the deputy and other members of the team
The defendant continues to answer questions in court.
“I knew dona Ines because she was my customer, she sold socks, underwear. Inez hasn’t been a client of mine in a long time. I didn’t have much confidence in her,” he says.
Tita says that she met Jessica’s mother two years before the girl’s death, but did not know her father.
“I met her from time to time on the street, rarely saw her.”
The woman also says that she never received money from Ines and never asked her for medicine.
“Ines gave me Jessica this morning. My daughter and my two-year-old granddaughter went for walks with her. I had a phone but I dropped it in a bucket of water“, he adds.
As for the video shown in court this morning, in which she and her daughter say that they are going to Ines’ home, Tita justifies herself: “It has nothing to do with anything. I was with my daughter. talk to her, but there was nothing wrong with that.”
Tita answers the judge’s new question and says that her family has never done anything wrong to Jessica.
The judge orders the defendants to “immediately” return to the room.
Tita appears in court and says that Jessica’s mother discounted the child’s epileptic seizures.
The judge again asks Tita if Jessica left the “Witch” house on the day she died.
“She gave the girl to me, I took her to my house. Neither husband nor daughter was there. I followed the girl alone,” she says.
According to the defendant, Ines handed Tita a suitcase with clothes and told her to wash and change for Jessica.
After asking the girl’s mother when she was going to pick her up, Ines said she could pick up the baby the same day if she had time.
After that, the defendant says that Jessica’s mother called and said that she could not pick up the girl.
“The girl is crying, it hurts me to see her crying. The girl wants you,” Tita replied.
“I was waiting for her to go after her daughter, it was me and the girl, the girl was playing, jumping from chair to chair,” says Tita.
“I heard the sound of falling. It was a wounded girl,” he continues.
The defendant says that she saw that the girl had a mark on her nose, and called her mother to take her to the hospital, to which Ines replied: “Tomorrow I will take my daughter to the hospital.”
“The girl at that time was sitting very still. I saw the girl fainting, so I called her mother and told her to go to the hospital. The mother said that it was not necessary, that they were epileptic seizures,” he says.
Tita says she had no idea what epileptic seizures were and that when her mother arrived, the girl was “stretching”.
“She was breathing, she was breathing well, when she fell, she bled.”
Tita elaborates that after the attack, “the girl got better” and that Ines got to the place “quickly”.
Further, the accused reports about the supper that evening, which was supposed to consist of chicken. Jessica stayed up to watch TV at night.
“That part of the night went well. When I went to take a bath, I saw her body in purple spots, ”he adds.
“The girl called me, said: “Come and dress me”, I got dressed, her mother called me to pick her up, and I took her.”
Tita says she gave the baby to her mother, who said she would take her to the hospital.
The judge interrupts and asks why hair was found in the defendant’s house.
“We didn’t have it at home. When the girl was, I combed it with a brush, gave it to my mother, only if I didn’t see it, ”she clarifies.
“If there were any bits of blood, the girl must have been wiping her face and it could be from that. The blood could be from the sheets, it could be from something else, ”he justifies.
“We went to Leiria to see my father because he was very sick, my mother called me to go there to see my father who was dying, he was very sick, we went in a hurry.”
Tita admits, after being questioned by the judge, that she washed the house with bleach and says she has “nothing more to say”. The defendant will still have to answer questions from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
INEM tech says Jessica was “unconscious” and “in a critical situation”
The witness is an ambulance technician who was on an ambulance motorcycle on the day of the murder.
“The doctor has already performed an examination, I was instructed to start cardiorespiratory resuscitation”
“The child was lying on the bed, on his back, the doctor was finishing the examination and finishing the ventilation.”
The tech adds that Jessica was “dead” and “in critical condition.”
“The baby was dressed and the chest was exposed to start the maneuvers.”
The witness confirms that Jessica was wearing below the waist.
The INEM technician’s reading ends.
INEM doctor who helped Jessica: “She had a bruise and skin on her head”
The health worker tells what she saw when she arrived at the scene.
“We arrived at the place, and at the door of the building there was a man who remained outside. The baby’s mother was still there, who directed us to the room where Jessica was.”
The doctor says the baby was wearing a diaper and there was a cap on the bed.
“The baby was lying on his back and we couldn’t appreciate anything because the baby wasn’t moving,” he adds.
“I had to pick up the baby and turn him over to check for breathing. He was a critical victim from the very beginning,” he continues.
The INEM specialist adds that she discovered that Jessica had a weak pulse and was already in “breathing arrest.”
“At that moment, Jessica was in a coma, her heart stopped. If he wasn’t already in a coma, he was a child who would end up in a lot of pain.”
The doctor, who will be accompanied by a nurse, will begin mechanical ventilation.
“We tried to change the position of the girl,” he explains.
The doctor explains that it was immediately clear that the child needed urgent help. “I remember the girl had a bruise and skin on her head,” he adds.
“I saw a child in a coma, with a bruise around the nose and mouth, very swollen, draining a lot of fluid. There were visible lesions on the face and bruises on the limbs, ”he clarifies before finishing the testimony.

Jessica’s father demands compensation
Alexandrino seeks compensation from the defendants in the amount of 800,000 euros for the death of a child and 200,000 euros for grief.
I saw in court the videos that were sent to Ines threatening her
In the video, Esmeralda can be heard threatening Ines: “I’m going to Alice’s house, I’ll call, isn’t she your mother-in-law? Do not you see? We’re on our way.
“That’s right, isn’t it,” adds Tita.
“She [Jéssica] He didn’t die because we hurt him”: “Witch” Tita defends herself in court
Tita’s lawyer reports that her client wants to make a statement.
“This lady is lying,” the witch Tita says, pointing to Ines.
The judge interrupts and states that the defendant cannot comment.
Tita confirms that Jessica was given to her “only once”.
“He asked me to stay with his daughter. I don’t know where she’s going,” he suggests.
“It was on a Sunday. She grabbed a girl from my house while I was cooking. The girls jumped on the chair, I told her to be quiet, but she continues to jump.”
“She didn’t die because we hurt her, did she,” Tita assures.
“I’m cooking, it’s just me and the girl, I said ‘Jessica, shut up’, she jumps from chair to chair, then I hear an explosion,” he says.
“That day I called her [Inês], ‘look, the girl has fallen’, ‘come on, I’ll go with you to the hospital’. She said no, grabbed the girl. Her tongue curled up, she asked for a spoon and tried to unfold it.
“I went to give birth to a girl, the girl was alive, what she did, I don’t know. It was at her mother’s house, mothers know best,” he says.
Tita confirms that the police were there, but does not say when. The defendant pauses to talk to a lawyer before saying she doesn’t want to talk anymore.
After a break in work, Tita admits that she wants to speak again, but the lawyer asks the other defendants to leave the room so that it will be “coherent, free and more spontaneous”.
The lawyer motivates the request by the fact that Tita is afraid of harming her family members.
The judge asks if Tita would not be able to speak if her children and husband were present.
The defendant replies: “Yes, I can. This lady [aponta para a mãe de Jéssica] that you must go.”
“I immediately realized that Dona Ines is not afraid, but on the contrary,” the judge replies.
The Public Ministry is opposed to the defendants going to Tita to testify.
After hearing the position of the lawyers, the court decides that, since the defense of the defendants do not object, they go to Tita to testify, but only in the afternoon and after the witnesses have spoken.
Judge sums up Ines’ testimony at the sixth hearing
The witness says he last saw the girl “four or five days before” the murder.
The witness of the assistant in the process confesses that he knows four defendants who live near the place of his work: Tita, Justo, Esmeralda and Ines.
“I never saw the four of them together, just the Montez family without Inez,” he begins.
A witness reports that he saw Esmeralda several times with her daughter, and later with another girl, who was supposed to be Jessica.
“Sometimes I saw Esmeralda and Tita with two girls, Jessica always followed Tita’s hand. Last time I saw her [4 ou 5 dias antes da morte], he was wearing a hat on his head, in huge glasses, crying. She was pulled to walk, the girl did not want to walk,” he adds.
The judge is trying to figure out how he could be sure that this child will be Jessica.
“I am absolutely sure that this girl was Jessica,” he replies.
“Whenever I saw her, she was always with Tita and Esmeralda, with Esmeralda’s daughter. Jessica has always been with Tita.”
Witness says he never saw Giusto with Jessica.
“I’m pretty sure the last time I saw the girl when she was crying was 4-5 days before she died.”
The judge terminates the testimony of this witness.
