The Judicial Police conduct searches at the national headquarters and the PSD district headquarters in Porto in connection with suspicions of illegal financing.
According to information collected morning Post, one of the defendants in the case is former SDP President Rui Rio, whose house was searched. Rui Rio is suspected of hiring advisers and paying through the Assembly of the Republic (AR). The advisers were AR employees, but Rui Rio distracted them by claiming they were helping the party.
The SP also ransacked the homes of Congressman Hugo Carneiro and Florbela Guedes, a longtime adviser to Rui Rio.
As found out cm, the complaint came from SDP officials. The investigation lasted a year.
