Boavista president again punished with 45-day suspension

Boavista president Vitor Murta has been suspended again for 45 days following incidents that occurred while traveling to Gil Vicente in the 2022/23 Ligue I season, the Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Board announced this Wednesday.

In addition to the punishment, the manager was sentenced to a fine of 3060 euros for the facts confirmed in the tunnel of the Cidade de Barcelos Stadium on May 12, when the Panthers lost to Mignot (3: 1), for the 32nd round of the NOS League and the penultimate round championship.

At the end of the match, Vitor Murta went to the press center to denounce that PSP elements had pushed him inside the fence of Gil Vicente and the sanction applied by the disciplinary body is based on “damage to honor and reputation and slanderous denunciation”.

Nuno Ribeiro, Boavista’s director of security, was also fined €255 for “failure to perform other duties”, but a source at the club told Lusa that the ninth-placed player in the last major division draw will appeal the proceedings.

On June 27, Vitor Murta was already suspended for 45 days and fined 3060 euros due to criticism in the same press center of the work of the referee team led by Ricardo Baishinho from the Lisbon association in this match.
