Several hundred “experienced” fighters from the Russian Wagner mercenary group arrived in the Central African Republic to “guarantee security” ahead of the July 30 referendum, a group linked to the paramilitary group announced this Sunday.
“Another plane with instructors arrived in Bangui to work in the Central African Republic (CAR). The planned rotation continues. Several hundred experienced Wagner specialists are joining the team operating in the country,” the Security International (COSI) Officers Community said on the Telegram social network.
“Russian instructors will continue to assist the servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Central African Republic and the security forces of the Central African Republic in ensuring security during the preparation of the constitutional referendum scheduled for July 30,” the report says.
