Complementary Housing Program approved by PS votes only

The Mais Habitação program was approved in Parliament this Wednesday in a final global vote, with PS’s panel of judges single-handedly voting on a legislative package that moves forward with changes to lease, licensing or local accommodation conditions.

PSD, Chega, Iniciativa Liberal, PCP and Bloco de Esquerda voted against the proposal, while Livre and PAN chose to abstain, repeating the vote seen on 19 May when the plenary considered it as a whole.

Opposition parties have called for a plenary vote on several of the proposed amendments they have presented – which did not pass the specialty – sharply criticizing the PS bench, albeit for different reasons, when presenting the respective demands.

PS MP Maria Begogna stressed that “there can be no consensus between the left, which will have to control the entire rental market”, and the point of view of the right.

All the norms referred to by the opposition parties were not observed, which confirmed the direction of the vote, which was observed in the process of voting in the specialty by the working group on housing construction, created within the framework of the Economic Commission.

The presentation of recall requests and voting was followed in the galleries by people wearing black sweaters associated with local housing who left just as parties stood up to vote against the Mais Habitação government’s law proposal. kicking as they left the premises, causing the President of the Assembly of the Republic to interrupt the vote until they left and the noise stopped.
