On Wednesday, public security police arrested a 60-year-old woman suspected of harming hundreds of victims through computer fraud. During the operation, several search warrants were executed in Setúbal and Amadora.
The woman sold equipment via the Internet, on the sites she created, and after receiving the money she did not deliver the goods to buyers.
The suspect earned thousands of euros from this practice. With the collected money, the detainee created fake “call centers”, which employed about ten people who participated in the scheme and changed their location to hide from the authorities.
After the elimination of criminal activity, 13 laptops, 6,100 euros in banknotes, four mobile phones, a desktop computer, two monitors, a printer, a router, a safe and a labeling machine were seized.
The detainee will be present at the first judicial interrogation for the application of appropriate coercive measures.
