The Igreja da Terceira Ordem street in Setúbal was too small to accommodate the hundreds of friends and family members who wanted to be present at Mourinho Felix’s final farewell. Farewell to the former player of the Portuguese national team, who later became a football coach, was accompanied by emotions, applause and tears. And that he was the father of coach José Mourinho, who was visibly flustered yesterday. Many famous football figures have walked along the Rua do Socorro.
Arriving early at the church where the memorial service was scheduled were Luis Filipe Vieira (President of Benfica), Aitor Karanka (former Spanish player and former assistant to Mourinho), Pauleta (former player and director of the FPF), Silvino Louro and Rui Faria (both members of Jose Mourinho’s technical team), as well as several coaches, including José Cuseiro, Baltemar Brito, Toni, Carlos Manuel, Domingos Paz Jencia and Ricardo Formosinho.
This Tuesday morning, everyone went to Setúbal to console and support José Mourinho, who, according to friend and former colleague Mourinho Félix in V. Setúbal, former player Fernando Tomé, is “broken and deeply shaken” by the death of his father.
After Mass, the funeral procession made its way to the cemetery of Nossa Senhora da Piedade, where the Manchester United manager insisted on helping to carry his father’s urn, covered with the flags of V. Setúbal and Belenenses, the two clubs he played for.
Throughout the ceremony, José Mourinho was surrounded by his mother Maria Julia, his wife Mathilde Faria and their children. He was constantly approached by friends who spoke words of comfort to him.
Prominent among them was Toni, a former Benfica player and coach who remembered the day he met Mourinho’s father. “The first game I played in the First Division was against V. Setubal and Mr Mourinho was in goal. He was a great man,” he said. cm.

At the head of the funeral procession to the cemetery of Nossa Señora da Piedade, four funeral carts followed, three of which were filled with wreaths of flowers, which were delivered to the family right from the first hours of the wake, to the Socorro chapel.
