Fulham Marco Silva beats Everton

Fulham under Portuguese manager Marco Silva made their debut in the English Football League this Saturday with a valuable 1-0 victory over Everton, while Brighton took their first defeat of the season.

In Liverpool without injured Portuguese player João Paligny, Fulham triumphed thanks to a lone goal from Jamaican midfielder Córdoba Reid in the 73rd minute, with Marco Silva adding a victory over his former team (he passed Everton between 2018 and 2020), in the beginning of the third season of the Portuguese in charge of the Londoners.

At Everton, midfielder Andre Gomes, also the 2016 Portuguese national and European champion, and goalkeeper João Virginia did not leave the bench. Striker Youssef Chermiti, who recently signed with Sporting, is not yet available.

In Luton Town’s first game in the Premier League era, Brighton spoiled the ‘party’ with a new emblem and thrashed 4-1 at home with goals in March (36 minutes), from Brazil’s Joao Pedro (71 from the penalty spot), Ivorian Adringa (85) and Irishman Ferguson (90+5).

On the Luton side, Morris is still down from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.

Bournemouth and West Ham started the season with a 1-1 draw, while Crystal Palace beat Sheffield United, another recently promoted player, 1-0.

In the first game of the day, Arsenal hosted and beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 with Fabio Vieira on the Gunners’ bench in a match that started 30 minutes late due to a problem in Emirates’ ticket control system. A stadium that initially left thousands of fans without access to the fence.

Newcastle host Aston Villa this Saturday.

On Friday, three-time champions Manchester City kicked off their English title defense with a 3-0 win over Burnley, returning to the top flight thanks to a brace from Norway’s Haaland, the Premier League’s top scorer last season.
