Portugal’s Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) found it “hard to understand” this Saturday that he was denied a sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix, race 10 of the season, after being run over by Italy’s Marco Besecchi (Ducati).
Oliveira hit gravel in the very first corner of the race, which was won by Italy’s Francesco Bagna (Ducati), who is getting closer and closer to regaining the world title.
“From my point of view, it is difficult to understand. I was hit from both sides, I almost fell and could no longer, because they squeezed me, ”explained Miguel Oliveira, whose words are quoted by the press service of the RNF team.
The Cascais rider also said the departure was “a pity”.
“Today[este sábado] this would be difficult because of the high temperatures. It would be necessary to control the pressure of the front wheel in order to be able to stop the motorcycle. I wish I had an idea of what we’re going to face tomorrow. [domingo]but it was impossible,” complained Miguel Oliveira.
The Portuguese racer emphasizes that now it will be necessary to “give all your best on the track to the fullest.”
Unlike other accidents this season, this Saturday the Portuguese rider was not injured.
“Physically, I am fine, there are no injuries, and tomorrow I am ready to try again,” concluded Miguel Oliveira.
Sunday is the main race of the Austrian Grand Prix, the 10th of the 20 races of the season.
