Laying hen breeders are required to declare their animals in September, except for businesses with fewer than 350 birds or breeding breeders, the Directorate General of Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV) announced on Monday.
“All owners of laying hens are required to declare the herds they owned as of September 1, 2023,” the DGAV notice reads.
In February, the mandatory deadline for declaring these animals has already expired.
The declaration must be submitted through the website https://avidec.dgav.pt or to the Regional Food and Veterinary Service.
The exception applies to laying hen farms with a population of less than 350 heads and laying hen farms.
DGAV is the central service of direct state administration with administrative autonomy.
