Angola authorities have detained a 52-year-old Portuguese man after confiscating 9,760 boxes of expired juice that were allegedly adulterated, it was announced today.
Boxes of Frooti juice produced at the Future Group Industrial plant in Luanda were confiscated on Friday and expired in January, February and May, according to a statement from the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC). July.
“The arrest is the result of a public complaint, filed via a video shared on social media, about the existence of a plant where expired Froote branded juices were washed for adulteration,” the press release added.
On site, the authorities confirmed the expiration date of the product, and there are serious suspicions that some of this batch has already entered the market. The seized goods are valued at about 20 million kwanzas (22,000 euros).
According to the facts, a Portuguese citizen, a representative of the company, was arrested, “who will be present at the prosecutor’s office for further legal proceedings, while actions are ongoing to fully clarify this crime,” the SIC said.
