“War in Ukraine, not in Brazil”: Zelensky criticized Lula’s position on the conflict in the east

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky criticized his Brazilian counterpart Lulu da Silva and recalled in statements RTPthat “the war is not in Russia, not in Brazil, not in the United States, but in Ukraine.”

“When we talk about a peace formula, unilateral or multilateral, we must be fair. If your proposals are based on the cession of some part of the territory, this is inconsistent,” he suggested.

The President of Brazil has already expressed his position on the war and stated that the Ukrainians bear the same responsibility for the conflict as the Russians. In April, Lula acknowledged the possibility of Ukraine ceding territories such as the Donbass or Crimea, a position Zelenskiy is now criticizing.

“This is incompatible with respect for our territorial integrity. People must respect the territories of independent states,” he added.

The President of Ukraine praised Marcelo Rebela de Souza for trying to speak Portuguese. “It didn’t surprise me, I really liked it,” he said.
