The Judicial Police (PJ) of Aveiro have detained a 39-year-old man suspected of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl who was institutionalized, the criminal police authority said.
In its statement, the SP refers to the fact that, in cooperation with the PSP, it identified and detained at the crime scene a man believed to be responsible for “several crimes of aggravated child sexual abuse.”
“The 13-year-old victim, institutionalized due to the socio-economic weakness of her family, on some visiting days of her parents ended up spending the night at the home of a couple of close relatives with those with whom she was entrusted, and thus in abuses have taken place in this context,” the same note states.
According to the judiciary, abuses allegedly committed in recent months became known to people close to the rapist, who reported their suspicions and decided on the immediate intervention of the police.
