Human activity has led to the fact that six of the nine factors maintaining the stability of the planet have been overcome, according to a study published this Wednesday by the University of Copenhagen.
The study updates the structure of planetary boundaries and shows that human activities are having an increasing impact on the planet, increasing the risk of dramatic changes in Earth’s global conditions.
The Planetary Boundaries System applies the latest scientific knowledge about the functioning of the Earth system to define a “safe operating space” for humanity, proposing the limits beyond which human activity can cause irreversible changes to living conditions on Earth.
