A five-year-old girl died after the car she was traveling in with her family was hit by a military plane that crashed in Turin, Italy, on Saturday.
The plane was performing aerobatic exercises when it collided with a flock of birds. The rider, according to the Italian Corriere della Sera, reported a “problem with his motorcycle” and a “bird attack.”
During the crash, the plane hit a family car. The brother of the deceased was in serious condition, his parents received burns.
The pilot ejected from the plane before colliding with the car. A video posted on social media by Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini shows the moment the pilot was rescued, as well as the crash and trail of fire behind the plane.
On the social network X (formerly Twitter), Salvini expressed solidarity with the family: “Prayer and embrace of touching intimacy.”
