This Thursday, Azerbaijan for the first time indicated the number of Russian peacekeepers killed during Baku’s offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh, reporting six casualties in two separate incidents.
Azerbaijan’s military killed five Russian soldiers on Wednesday by shooting at their car after they were “confused” by Armenian separatists, Azerbaijan’s prosecutor general said. According to the same source, on the same day, a sixth Russian soldier was killed by “unidentified members of the Armenian armed forces” who fired at his car.
The Russian Defense Ministry previously reported the deaths of Russian soldiers on Wednesday, without specifying their number. This Thursday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev offered an “apology” to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for these soldiers who died during the Azerbaijani offensive.
