The leader of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE), Pedro Sánchez, assured this Sunday that he will be reappointed prime minister after the July 23 elections, but did not specify the details of the negotiations with the independence parties on which he depends.
Sánchez was speaking at a rally in Barcelona while, at the same time in Madrid, the Popular Party (PP, right) united tens of thousands of people with an initiative against the unions that the socialists are negotiating with independents, especially the Catalans, who are demanding amnesty for regional leaders involved in unilateral declaration of independence in 2017.
“They are protesting against the socialist government. Well, excuse me, there will be a socialist government. It’s clear to us: there are numbers [nos apoios parlamentares] for the progressive government of PSOE with the party of Yolanda Diaz [Somar]”, he decreed.
