The PAN National Political Commission will meet this Wednesday evening to vote on the parliamentary protection agreement signed after the regional legislative elections in Madeira.
In response to Lusa, an official source of the People-Animals-Nature party indicated that “the political agreement was the result of the joint work of each of the parties and is still subject to ratification by the internal bodies of the SDP and PAN, as well as the signature of the relevant representatives.”
“PAN will hold today [esta quarta-feira] in the evening there will be a meeting of the National Political Commission, which is the party’s highest political decision-making body between congresses, the same source said.
According to official preliminary results, the Somos-Madeira coalition (PSD/SDS-PP) won the Madeira regional legislative elections on Sunday with 43.13% of the votes, but failed to achieve an absolute majority of one deputy, which requires 24 out of 47 seats in the parliament of the archipelago.
The PAN received 2.25% of the vote and elected a regional deputy, returning for representation in the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
PAN MP-elect Monica Freitas announced on Tuesday that she has signed a four-year parliamentary advocacy agreement with the PSD/CDU-PP coalition in Madeira, securing an absolute majority in the hemisphere.
