The parliamentary group of the government coalition in Guinea-Bissau this Sunday accused the main opposition party Madem-G15 of fabricating a crisis in order to dissolve the assembly elected four months ago.

The main opposition party, which was previously in the government, asked the President of the Republic, Oumaro Sissoko Embalo, to dissolve the assembly under threat of mobilizing the people.
The coalition’s elected representatives in government understand that Madem-G15 wants to “achieve the formation of another government outside the democratic process, as has already happened in the past legislature.”
Madem justified her position by arguing that the President of the National People’s Assembly, Domingos Simões Pereira, did not comply with parliamentary regulations when organizing the celebrations.
“This is a fabricated crisis,” insisted Terra Ranca, first secretary of the PAI parliamentary group, who believes that “common sense will ultimately prevail” because “peace is needed to solve the country’s problems.”
Mário Musante da Silva stressed that Guinea-Bissau’s independence day, rather than “fruitless contradictions and artificial institutional crises, should serve to celebrate the unprecedented historical feat achieved by Amilcar Cabral and the freedom fighters.”
He also said that the celebrations, which took place on September 23 and 24 at the symbolic site of Boe, were prepared with the knowledge and participation of everyone and that only on the eve of the event Madem.G15 decided not to go. .
He also noted that parliamentarians’ discussions should be based on topics and issues of interest to the Guinean people.
“And not behavior that disrespects us as legitimate representatives of our people,” he added.
