Chega announces complaint against government for violating citizens’ right to health

Chega announced this Monday that he will file a complaint against the government with the Constitutional Court and the Office of the Ombudsman “for violating the right of citizens to health” and intends to hear the executive director of SNS in parliament.

In a conversation with reporters, President Chegi noted that the party decided this Monday to “file a formal complaint to both the Constitutional Court and the Ombudsman’s office about the violation of the citizens’ right to health” enshrined in the Constitution.

During a visit to a nursery in the municipality of Almada (Setubal district), Andre Ventura noted that the complaint would be “against the government and the Minister of Health” and that the party plans to formalize it “next week.” .

“We are working on it. This was an idea that had already been developed by a parliamentary group at the suggestion of our deputy on the health committee. This is what we decided to consider when we saw that, despite all the unforeseen circumstances, the Government was simply artificially promoting and delaying the negotiations,” he explained.

Leader Chegi believes that closing emergency situations and bringing services into line threatens “a genuine violation of the right to health” and said it is “important that the courts and service providers send a signal to the government that this will no longer be tolerated.”

“The government must act, and we are ready to go to any lengths to ensure that the government protects the health of its citizens, which in this case it clearly does not,” he said.

Andre Ventura said Health Minister Manuel Pizarro “bears personal responsibility for what is happening.”

“He knows the difficulties we face, it is visible to everyone, and the government insists on artificially delaying negotiations, on introducing new measures into the state budget, when the Portuguese are faced with health problems every day, and this is intolerable,” he said. supported.

On this occasion, President Chegi also announced that the party would once again propose to “urgently convene a parliament” for the chief executive of the National Health Service, Fernando Araujo, “as the situation is starting to become completely unsustainable”, and said that he hoped that this proposal would not be rejected by the PS .
