Temperatures will drop by about 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in parts of the continent from Friday to Sunday, with rain also expected to return, meteorologist Angela Lourenco told Lusa.
“From Friday onwards we will have a gradual change in the weather situation. Until then this Wednesday and tomorrow. [quinta-feira]”We will continue a situation identical to the previous days, that is, still hot, dry weather, no precipitation and generally light winds,” said a meteorologist from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to Angela Lourenço, a cold frontal surface is expected to approach and pass from Friday, which will lead to lower temperatures and rain.
“Rainfall will begin on Friday in Minho in the morning and will gradually spread to the rest of the area, although this is unlikely in Baixo Alentejo and the Algarve. Also on the 13th [sexta-feira] a decrease in maximum temperatures is expected, which is more significant in the Northern and Central regions, as well as in Alto Alentejo,” he indicated. The decrease in maximum temperatures on Friday will range from 02 to 05 degrees in the Southern region and most in the interiors of the North and Central temperatures can reach 7-8 degrees.
“We are heading towards more typical autumn values, although temperatures of 28 and 29 degrees are expected in many places in the central region. Temperatures continue to drop on Saturday and Sunday. In just three days [sexta-feira, sábado e domingo] the drop should be up to 10-12 degrees in some places,” he emphasized.
According to an IPMA meteorologist, precipitation will begin on Friday and continue with greater or less intensity until at least Tuesday. “Rainfall will affect the entire area on Saturday and Sunday and may be more significant in the Northern and Central regions,” he said.
