PSP mobilized resources for the Portugália restaurant in Cais de Sodre, Lisbon, following the discovery of an abandoned suitcase near a commercial establishment. After analyzing the suitcase by employees of the Explosive Decontamination and Underground Safety Center, it was concluded that it did not pose any danger.
This was reported by an official source in the Lisbon PSP command. CM that the alert was given at 11:45 am through a telephone call to the local PSP police station. A security perimeter and a special police unit were deployed at the scene.
Please be aware that this is the second police incident to occur at this location in less than 24 hours.
Late Friday afternoon, a 36-year-old man, an Azerbaijani citizen with an Israeli passport, entered Portugal and showed his mobile phone to the officer on duty. The word “grenade” was read in the translation application, which prompted the restaurant employee to call the police department. The man was identified and then released.
