The search for a woman missing since Friday near Cabo Raso in Cascais was interrupted late Saturday and will resume on Sunday, the National Maritime Authority (ANM) said.
“After they were allegedly swept away by a wave while walking along Cabo Raso in Cascais, they were stopped. [as buscas] late in the evening, but the victim was never found,” AMN said in a statement.
According to the same source, searches will resume tomorrow. [domingo] in the morning.
The alarm was raised at 5.30pm on Friday after two people fell into the sea near the Cabo Raso cliffs in Cascais, Lisbon area.
In a statement sent on Friday, AMN said that “two people were walking near Cabo Raso when they were swept away by a wave and the woman eventually disappeared into the sea.”
“Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that the man managed to reach the ground by his own means, with the help of members of the public, received minor injuries, was helped by members of the Cascais Volunteer Firefighters, and was then transported to the INEM hospital department,” he specified.
ANM also stressed that the operations were coordinated by the port captain and the local command of the Cascais Marine Police and included the deployment by sea of the Cascais Rescue Station vessel and the NRP Setúbal of the Portuguese Navy.
On land, elements of the local command of the Cascais Marine Police, the Cascais Volunteer Firefighters and the Cascais Civil Protection were deployed, while a Portuguese Air Force aircraft was added to the ANM on Friday.
