The National Federation of Doctors (FNAM) criticized this Wednesday the publication of the diplomas of the departments of total dedication and family health, in violation of the agreement with the trade unions, and warned that they contain provisions that are unconstitutional.
“On the day this happened (…) the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government, a diploma for family health institutions and a new regime of full dedication were published” without including the proposals that the FNAM had to improve these regimes, Lusa reported this to the agency Federation President Joana Bordalo e Sa.
The trade union leader criticized the fact that the diplomas were published by the government unilaterally “contrary to the agreement with the doctors.”
According to the FNAM, these regimes contain unconstitutional provisions, such as increasing overtime work limits, ending compensatory rest after a doctor works on a night shift.
“Although this commitment regime is voluntary, it is mandatory for doctors who come to family health departments and integrated responsibility centers in hospitals, which, naturally, can alienate doctors from these work organizations, since it implies a work regime which is abusive and unregulated from a labor perspective,” he warned.
This Wednesday, SIM and FNAM held another round of negotiations with the Ministry of Health, which was canceled after the resignation of Prime Minister António Costa on Tuesday to the President of the Republic after the Ministry of Public reported that this is the purpose of the independent investigation of the Supreme Court on the lithium and hydrogen projects.
Joana Bordalo e Sa said that the meeting was canceled on Tuesday evening “without explanation” and that Fnam is now “with calm and serenity” awaiting a message from the President of the Republic about the future in order to understand who her interlocutor will be.
But, he stressed, “no matter what happens”, the National Federation of Doctors is “steadfastly defending the rights of doctors and the National Health Service”.
When asked if the FNAM will cancel the strike planned for November 14 and 15 if the legislative elections are held, Joana Bordalo i Sá said that for now she is keeping everything planned, namely a trip to Brussels next year. day 17.
The Fnam delegation will meet with MEPs and Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides to present “a portrait of the dramatic health situation in Portugal.”
Also presented will be a manifesto in defense of public health, signed by FNAM and CESM, its counterpart in Spain, as well as FNAM proposals to improve the working conditions of doctors and attract them to the SNS.
In conclusion, Joana Bordalo e Sa said that “all decisions will be made” after understanding who will be the interlocutors of the unions in the negotiations.
“But, I repeat once again, we will continue to fight for the rights of doctors and the National Health Service. I can give this certainty and guarantee now,” the trade union leader emphasized.
