Lisbon and Porto’s Metros and Transtejo boats registered fewer users in October than during the same period in 2019, when the Covid-19 pandemic had not yet affected their operations.
Data from the Ministry of the Environment shows that 14,923,000 users used the Lisbon metro in October this year. 13% less than the 17,198,000 observed in October 2019.
The same trend (1% decrease) is observed in the Porto metro: 7,164,000 passengers in October of this year and 7,236,000 in October 2019. In turn, the reduction in ferries at the Tagus estuary in October this year was 6% compared to the same period. October 2019, ranging from 1,833,000 (2019) to 1,723,000 (2023). In total, the reduction will be about 2.5 million users.
