The Portugal Air Summit (PAS) will return in 2024 to the municipal airfield of Ponte de Sor (Portalegre) from 9 to 12 October, the event organization announced this Saturday.
PAS 2024, promoted by the municipality in collaboration with the Association of Commerce and Industry of Ponte de Sor (ACIPS) and other organizations, will cover topics such as “Knowledge and Capacity”, “Sustainable Development”, “Digital Transition”, “Vision and Investment” ” “, “Regulation” and “Leaders of the Future”.
On the sidelines of the “PAS Take Off for 2024” event, which will last until Sunday at the municipal airfield of Ponte de Sor, municipal president Hugo Hilario explained on Thursday to the Lusa agency that the event “is either for reasons of sustainability or because the programs do not conflict with other international events will switch to a two-year format starting in 2024.
“PAS positions itself at the level of other international events, we decided to make PAS from the international aspect to be held every two years,” he said.
“This year, since we are doing this for the first time and so as not to obviously lose the connections and institutional relationships that we have with various partners across the country and even abroad, we understand that we should not disrupt the event and do not celebrate it in such a way. so that it would be more symbolic and smaller, one that would become a transition to a new model – the biennale,” he added.
The mayor assured that the event will “continue” in Ponte de Sor, but does not rule out the possibility that another institution or municipality will promote the event in years when the Ponte de Sor chamber does not have this mission.
“If, in the years when it is not held in Ponte de Sor, some municipality, some partnership advocates that it can be held elsewhere, it will depend on the municipality, which is the only and exclusive owner of the event. whose registered trademark is owned by the municipality itself, decide whether it makes sense within the municipality’s strategy,” he said.
The program until Sunday also includes entertainment events associated with the International Balloon Festival and the ARC Air Race Championship.
The ARC Air Race Championship aims to recreate the racing demonstration environment at Montargil Reservoir, where pilots “test their capabilities and the capabilities of the machines” they will control, the organization stressed.
The Alentejo International Hot Air Balloon Festival offers interested parties several initiatives, including free flights and in-flight baptisms.
