Fans of the FC Porto women’s volleyball team were attacked by a group of hooded men in Braga

About 50 fans, mostly family members of players of the FC Porto volleyball team, were attacked this Sunday by a group of hooded men dressed in black after the team’s game against Braga.

Fans of the Dragons senior women’s team, including women and children, were ambushed and attacked outside the SC Braga Pavilhão Arena after the Dragons beat Braga 3-2.

“It was a cowardly act to attack the families of players, women and children in this way. I regret what happened without any reason to justify it,” he said, addressing morning PostFernando Madureira, responsible for the Super Dragões support team.

“I hope that the prosecutor’s office will issue a statement as quickly on this cowardly act as they did on the events at the recent General Assembly of FC Porto,” added “Macaco,” as he is known in the football world. .

SC Braga stands in solidarity with fans who have been victims of any kind of aggression and will meet with various organizations in the coming hours to deepen any actions taken to prevent similar incidents in the future, even despite evidence that control over the road public sector is beyond the scope of his competence,” the team said in a statement after the incident.

The Braga club was willing to cooperate with authorities, sharing “any and all information it receives that helps identify, isolate and remove any individual or group of individuals.”

Sporting Braga expresses concern about the “increase in cases of similar incidents involving fans of several teams and in events of different sports.”

The Office for the Prevention and Combating of Violence in Sports (APCVD) decided to forward all information about the acts of violence that occurred to the prosecutor’s office.

A statement from the APCVD states that “in the event of a criminal offense of a public nature […] will forward to the prosecutor’s office all information collected that will be useful for the administration of justice, taking into account the competence of the judicial authorities to investigate criminal cases.”
