Miami and Atlanta in the United States will respectively host the final and first games of the 2024 Copa America, the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) announced this Monday.
The final of the America’s Cup, a competition that will take place entirely in the United States, is scheduled for July 14 next year at the 65,000-capacity Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The start of the tournament, scheduled for June 20, will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, which seats 71 thousand spectators.
“We expect stadiums across the American continent to be filled with passion for the opening and final of an unforgettable Copa America,” said Alejandro Domínguez, President of Conmebol and Vice-President of FIFA.
Dominguez emphasizes the grandeur of the stadiums and the involvement of the United States: “In Atlanta, the ball will start moving and will not stop for a month. These are great stadiums in great cities. We are grateful for the valuable cooperation of the US Authority and our friends Concacaf.”
Victor Montagliani, president of the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean (Concacaf) and vice-president of FIFA, assures that Atlanta and Miami “are two world-class stadiums” and “excellent hosts for these games.”
Next year’s Copa America will feature 10 South American teams and six visitors from North, Central America and the Caribbean as part of an agreement between Conmebol and Concacaf.
