The body of a 78-year-old man lay for more than five hours on the street near the Prazeres cemetery in Lisbon, awaiting a decision from the court and the police to detain him.
The death occurred at 12:00 on Monday. A source connected to the process said CM that there is a possibility, which will be confirmed after an autopsy, that the elderly man fell ill with a sudden illness that caused him to fall onto the sidewalk. INEM was contacted by members of the public but limited itself to confirming the death of the 78-year-old man.
What followed was what is normal in such situations. PSP kept the corpse covered with a sheet, awaiting the prosecutor’s decision on its removal.
However, it was not until 16:21 that the Dafundo fire station in the municipality of Oeiras was ordered to send resources to the site to remove the body.
