PS parliament leader accuses Cavaco Silva of ‘weak moral character’

This Monday, the leader of the PS Parliament accused former President Cavaco Silva of showing “weak moral character” by pretending not to know that the argument about the lack of correct reports was used to cut salaries and pensions.

Eurico Brillante Díaz commented on Facebook on an article signed by Aníbal Cavacu Silna in this Monday’s edition of Público, in which he believes that the idea of ”correct reports” is “a trap of the socialist power to deceive the Portuguese” in order to “distract attention”. (…) serious problems of the country” and “conceal the incompetence and low moral character of some ministers.”

In a short response posted on Facebook, Eurico Brillante Diaz responded: “Weak moral character. Pretending that it is unknown that the argument about the lack of correct accounts has been used to cut wages, pensions, social benefits, achieve huge increases in taxes and reduce the welfare state, degrading the public school and social network, with a historical number of emigration (360 thousand between 2013 and 2015 – see Pordata). And all because the math doesn’t add up.”

“Those who live on wages and pensions know very well what the trap is,” concluded the leader of the socialist faction.

Brillante Dias recalled the times of governments led by Pedro Passos Coelho, when the Troika of the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Union were in Portugal assessing measures to reduce the budget deficit, in which wages were high. pensions were also cut, citing the need for the country to reduce public debt and return to clean accounts.
