Bus routes in Porto are reduced only in January

“I think we’ll have semi-definite schedules next week, and then we’ll have to use that until the end of the month to adjust everything.” Metropolitan Region of Porto (AMP) President Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez admits that the “full” launch of Unir, the region’s new bus network, may not happen until early 2024. As for the restrictions felt since the first day of work, Friday, “the service was such, it couldn’t be worse.”

Among user complaints, the main one is constant delays. “Real chaos,” comments Jorge Silva, a regular user from Vila Nova de Gaia. Also worthy of criticism is the fact that many vehicles have signs in Swedish and the destination handwritten on pieces of paper attached to the windshield. “We can’t even see where the bus is going. At least we don’t pay a ticket!” says the user. Ticket checking machines do not work.

Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez also claims that operators had to guarantee accommodation for approximately 160 drivers hired in Cape Verde and Brazil.
