FIFA has nominated three candidates to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup

This Saturday, FIFA announced that it has received three bids to host the final stage of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, two of them joint and one individual, submitted by Brazil.

Two joint bids have been submitted by Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, as well as Mexico and the United States, with a decision on who will receive the final phase scheduled at the FIFA Congress on May 17 in Bangkok, Thailand.

On November 25, South Africa announced it was withdrawing from the selection process, preferring to “submit a better qualified candidate by 2031,” as its federation explained.

Only the United States hosted the 1999 and 2003 World Cups, while Germany hosted the 2011 World Cup.

The 2023 World Cup, which included Portugal for the first time, was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, with Spain winning the title.
