The Marinha Grande court confirmed this Wednesday the conviction of Maria Salome Frasan, the teacher who pulled the ears of two children during a break at the Pilado 1st cycle school in Marinha Grande in March 2021, adding an additional penalty of 4.90 euros to pay for the ointment.
In the first decision, a teacher convicted of two offenses of harm to physical integrity was ordered to pay a fine of 540 euros and compensate two boys 300 euros each, in addition to covering legal costs. The new sentence, after the resumption of the hearing determined by the Court of Appeal of Coimbra, preserved the values of the first, adding only the cost of the ointment used by the parents to mitigate the consequences of pulling out the ears of their son. .
The parents of the boy, who changed schools after this case, demanded 5,100 euros in compensation for material damage, this amount included the costs of changing schools, but the court rejected a “causal link” between the defendant’s behavior and the damage in question. .
