Portuguese living abroad who voted in the Portuguese Communities Council (CCP) elections elected 76 councilors out of the 90 provided for by the new law, an increase in the percentage elected compared to the previous vote, according to official figures.
The results of the elections held on November 26 were published this Monday on the Portuguese communities portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Based on these results, 76 councilors were elected from the 90 statutory seats, representing 84.4% of the seats filled.
In these elections, 1.5 million Portuguese residents living abroad were invited to vote.
Members of the CPC are elected through 52 constituencies, covering countries on four continents where the Portuguese and their descendants live, with some states such as Brazil, the United States or France having multiple constituencies.
According to official data, 14 constituencies were left without a representative because they did not put forward their candidacy.

In the previous election (2015), there were 50 constituencies to elect 80 councilors, of which 65 were elected, meaning 81.2 seats were filled.
The lists of candidates have been submitted by November 6 and those elected will be chosen by Portuguese citizens living abroad, over 18 years of age and registered in the electoral register of the Assembly of the Republic.
