Between Friday and Sunday, PSP caught 77 drunk drivers and 40 without a legal driver’s license as part of Operation Safe Parties, which resulted in seven serious injuries in 478 crashes over the past three days.
According to the operation report for the period from December 22 to 24 released by the National Directorate of PSP on Monday, 29 people were also detained for theft and robbery, three for possession of prohibited weapons and eight on suspicion of drug trafficking. . .
Police seized more than 430 individual doses of drugs, six firearms and 12 bladed weapons (knives).
From Friday to Sunday, the PSP recorded 478 accidents on roads under its jurisdiction, resulting in 147 injuries, seven of which were serious.
Since Operation Safe Parties began on December 15, PSP has recorded two road deaths, but none between Friday and Sunday.
Over the past three days, the PSP checked 4,738 vehicles and monitored 17,120 using radar, identifying 1,728 violations, including speeding (602), lack of periodic inspection (91), drunk driving (42), lack of insurance (25) and abuse of mobile phones (25).
The 77 DUI arrestees were driving with a blood alcohol level that would be considered a crime.
PSP Operation Safe Parties 2023/2024 ends on January 2nd.
