Montenegro asks Portuguese to change their lives in 2024 and warns of poverty

PSD President Luis Montenegro this Sunday asked the Portuguese to “change lives” by 2024, warning that problems in the health, education and housing sectors are “symptoms of poverty and impoverishment.”

In a New Year’s video message posted on social media, Montenegro said 2024, with legislative elections in March and European elections in June, will be a year of great decisions.

“Already in [10 de] March, we have the opportunity to change our lives. [nas eleições legislativas]. We must turn the page on this general impoverishment. Chaos in healthcare, instability of schools, lack of housing are symptoms of poverty and impoverishment. The fact that we have more and more homeless people on our streets is the greatest manifestation of poverty, which is often hidden,” he stressed.

The Social Democrat needs to create more wealth to give young people a future, cut taxes to make life easier for the middle class, boost pensions and prevent older people from being abandoned.

“We really have to change our lives. Portugal has enormous potential. We are a hardworking people, a resilient people, an enterprising people, an innovative people. We must combine all these opportunities to become a fairer country.” a more balanced country and a more prosperous country,” he said.

“I have great confidence and great ambition to build with you a new Portugal, a renewed Portugal, a happier Portugal and a more supportive Portugal. Let’s change our lives. Let’s give Portugal a new government,” he added: I wish you a good New Year with great hope.
