Seven areas of mainland Portugal will be under a yellow warning until Thursday due to a forecast of rough seas, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said today.
The warnings apply to the areas of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga.
According to the IPMA, the yellow warning for these seven districts is in effect from 12:00 on Wednesday 3rd until 00:00 on Thursday, 4 January 2024.
IPMA is forecasting northwesterly waves of four to five metres.
In an update, IPMA reports that the areas of Porto and Viana do Castelo (from 15:00 to 24:00 on Tuesday), Vila Real (from 15:00 to 24:00 on Tuesday), Vila Real (from 18:00 :00 to 24:00), Viseu and Aveiro (from 21:00 to 24:00) and Coimbra (from 03:00 to 09:00 on Wednesday).
