According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), seven areas of the continent are under a yellow warning this Wednesday and Thursday due to the forecast of heavy seas.
The areas of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under a yellow warning due to forecast waves from the northwest of 4 to 5 meters from 12:00 this Wednesday until 00:00 Thursday.
Due to the rain, which could be heavy, the IPMA also placed the Coimbra area until 9am on Wednesday, as well as Setúbal and Évora from 12pm to 6pm under a yellow warning level.
A yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
According to the Portuguese Navy and the National Maritime Authority, due to rough seas, the bars of Caminha, Douro, Esposende, Vila Praia de Ancora, Póvoa do Varzim, Vila do Conde and Portinho da Ericeira are closed to navigation .
The bars in Aveiro and Figueira da Foz are air conditioned.
IPMA is forecasting generally very cloudy skies across the continent this Wednesday with periods of heavy rain at times, particularly in the north and central areas, until the early hours of the morning, as well as strong seas on the west coast.
The minimum temperature will range from 02 degrees Celsius (in Braganca) to 13 degrees Celsius (in Faro and Évora) and the maximum temperature will range from 12 degrees Celsius (in Braganca) to 19 degrees Celsius (in Faro).
