The team of the new Socialist Secretary General agreed with the leader Daniel Adrian, who had 1% in the elections to the leadership of this party, on the existence of a single list for running for the National Commission.
Last week, Pedro Nuno Santos reached an agreement with his main opponent in the fight for the post of secretary general, current Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro, giving him 35% of the seats in the National and Political Committees.
By making an agreement with Daniel Adrian after he did the same with José Luis Carneiro, the new Socialist leader is ensuring in practice that only one list will be drawn up on Sunday, the last of the three days of the congress. voted for the National Commission, the highest party body between congresses.
As for Daniel Adrián, who arrived at the congress with just 1% of the votes for the post of Secretary General and with five elected delegates, Pedro Nuno Santos’ team gives him four seats among the 251 members of the National Commission and two seats among the 65 members of the Political Committee.
“After the internal dispute, now is the time for unity before the next legislative elections” on March 10, one of the new leader’s main allies told news agency Lusa.
Daniel Adrian, on the contrary, considered that this agreement with the Secretary General’s group was “possible” and “shows good will” on the part of his political sensitivity.
