“We feared the worst”: a seven-year-old boy diagnosed with cancer overcame the disease

Anderson Pollard, a seven-year-old boy, had unpleasant and infrequent bowel movements. What was thought to be constipation was actually stomach cancer.

According to Mirrorin 2023, he was diagnosed with constipation at an allergy clinic, but after conducting a series of tests, ultrasound, CT, MRI and blood tests, doctors discovered several cancerous tumors.

“When they told us it was cancer, we were completely shocked. We see it in movies and don’t think it will happen to us. It was simply devastating. We had no idea what it meant and feared the worst,” said the child’s father, Sam Pollard.

At the children’s hospital in Birmingham, England, doctors diagnosed Burkitt’s lymphoma. “They told us that Anderson’s cancer can be cured, but there are no guarantees,” the father added.

During his four-month hospital stay, Anderson underwent six rounds of chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, a biopsy and eight lumbar punctures.

It was a difficult time for the family, but it was successfully overcome. The boy managed to beat cancer and visited the West Midlands Police Headquarters to celebrate this achievement. The chief of police offered him tickets to a Manchester United match, his favorite football team.
