The PSP carried out searches in two beauty clinics in Mafra and Lisbon as part of a process of usurpation of functions and serious crimes against physical integrity. Two people have been charged, security forces said Tuesday.
In a statement, the PSP’s capital command in Lisbon said it executed two non-residential search warrants at two cosmetic clinics and one search warrant at a home on January 10. The two accused – a 35-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man – were required to have an identity card and a residence permit.
The PSP note states that the investigation has been ongoing since the beginning of 2019, following the filing of an anonymous complaint by the Nurses’ Order to the prosecutor’s office.
This is a case of an aesthetic intervention involving lip filling with hyaluronic acid applied by a supposed nurse that resulted in a serious, life-threatening bodily infection that resulted in hospitalization and multiple surgeries and resulted in loss of sensation and deformation of the lips.
“Following an investigation by the Order of Nurses, it was determined that the target was not a nurse, resulting in a criminal case for usurpation of functions in the Ministry of State, which delegated the powers of investigation to the PSP,” the document said. note.
As part of the investigation, searches were carried out at clinics located in Mafra and Lisbon, as well as at the residence of the suspects in Sintra.
During the searches, five laptops containing clinical information, five mobile phones, €10,700 in notes and folders containing client information/permissions were seized.
Various materials suitable for performing medical actions were also seized: syringes, needles of different diameters, saturators, anesthesia, scalpels, Botox and expired medications.
In the note, PSP advises all citizens wishing to benefit from aesthetic procedures to check the conditions and capabilities of the places providing these services before starting any treatment.
