A family from the parish of Curral das Freiras, who had to be relocated as a precaution due to a landslide near their home after the heavy rain recorded in Madeira, returned home on Wednesday, a source in the municipality said at the fair this Thursday.

The collapse occurred last Saturday due to bad weather that affected the southern coast and mountainous areas, marked by heavy rains that blocked the road in the Fahan dos Cardos section and the river, which overflowed but did not damage a house or cause injuries .
Due to the current situation, the municipality, as a precautionary measure, with the support of a local resident, was able to temporarily relocate a family consisting of a couple and a child.
According to him, municipal services are working on the spot.
Last Saturday, the southern coast of Madeira island and mountainous areas were under an orange warning, the second most severe on a scale of three, due to heavy rain.
The weather caused several landslides, flooding and falling tree branches in several locations, but there were no reports of injuries or significant property damage.
Operations at Madeira International Airport have also faced serious challenges.
