A 33-year-old man was seriously injured this Thursday in an industrial accident near Estrada Nacional 2, near Ervidel, in the municipality of Alustrel (Beja), sources from the GNR and civil protection said.
A PPR source told Lusa that the man “injured his leg with a chainsaw” after being taken to Beja Hospital.
According to a source from the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo, “the man was cleaning with a chainsaw on the side of the road” when the accident occurred.
The Workplace Conditions Authority (ACT) has been contacted to investigate the circumstances in which the accident occurred, a Guarda source said.
According to the sub-regional command, the alarm was raised at 15:34 and Aljustrel and GNR firefighters were mobilized to the scene.
