A group of reporters from Porto Canal were attacked this Thursday at a workers’ meeting in São João da Madeira, the media’s management reported.
“The management of Porto Canal strongly condemns the attacks on a group of journalists this Thursday afternoon in São João da Madeira and expresses its solidarity with the journalist and image reporter who was attacked,” said a statement signed by the CEO. Porto Canal, Manuel Tavares.
Porto Canal guarantees that it will launch “legal mechanisms against the perpetrator of the attacks.”
The station said on its website that the attack occurred while covering a demonstration by workers fired from a factory in Sao Joao da Madeira, Aveiro district.
According to Porto Canal, protesters identified the attacker as allegedly one of the businessmen of the factory in question.
