Chega/Azores says it will be a surprise on election night with a “great result”

The leader of Chegi/Azores said this Sunday that he believes that on February 4, the day of early regional elections, the party will be the “surprise of the night” because it will achieve “an excellent result in the elections.”

“I believe that on the 4th we will be the surprise of the evening. Not a good result, but a great result,” José Pacheco told Lusa over the phone.

The candidate for the island of San Miguel and the compensation circle confirmed the goal of Chega/Azores to elect the parliamentary group in the elections.

“I don’t like to give quantitative assessments. I always leave it up to the voters, the Azorean people. But mathematically it is possible to have at least four and maybe a maximum of seven or eight deputies,” he said when asked by Luz about the party’s goal in the Azores elections.

Campaigning for the island of Santa Maria, the head of the list, elected as a deputy in the 2020 regional elections, once again warned of the problems facing the population of Mariense.

“We came to Santa Maria several times and found a number of situations that we reported, but which were not resolved,” said José Pacheco, confirming the need to promote products such as lamb, which “must be certified.” and melon.

According to the candidate, Santa Maria Island “is economically depressed” and “does not need the empty promises of aerospace centers.”

“You need real products, and lamb meat could be an added value for this sheep-farming island and therefore increase exports,” said José Pacheco, for whom sea connections to and from Santa Maria to transport goods remain a drama.” while in the region there is “talk about electric boats”.

The leader of Chega/Azores emphasized that “Santa Maria has been living lately” with “promises and more promises” that “are not realized or are simply delusions”, and also pointed to the situation of “degradation” of regional roads.

“People here should live with dignity, they should have a vibrant economy, and judging by the various complaints we have filed, we have not seen good solutions,” the regional government said.

Regarding the Aximage poll for the newspaper Açoriano Oriental and Rádio Açores/TSF, published this Sunday on the regional elections, José Pacheco said that “these polls are worth what they are worth” and that he was never “guided by the samples that are currently time is not even real.”

“We are nine islands and I believe Chega will reach double digits. Maybe it would be better not to do polls so that we don’t laugh at very unrealistic numbers,” he said, referring to the difference among undecided voters.

According to the Aximage – Comunicação e Imagem para açormédia survey, the PSD/CDS-PP/PPM coalition gains 36.6% of respondents’ preferences, PS – 33.5%, Chega – 6.3%, Bloco de Esquerda (BE) – 1.9 % and the same percentage of respondents said they were voting for PAN (1.9%).

As for the Liberal Initiative (IL), in the survey it has 1.4% of voting intentions, and the CDU – 1.3%.

However, according to the survey, 13.3% of respondents were undecided on whom to vote for in the February 4 elections.

The sample included 411 people over 18 years of age living in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

Eleven candidates are running for the regional legislative bodies: PSD/CDS-PP/PPM, ADN, CDU (PCP/PEV), PAN, Alternative 21 (MPT/Aliança), IL, Chega, BE, PS, JPP and Livre.
