The President of the Republic intends to dissolve the Legislative Assembly of Madeira when he restores the powers to do so, which will happen on March 24. On this day, six months, as provided for by the Constitution, have passed since the last elections.
This was reported by a source in the Democratic Alliance (AD). CM that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa even informed the PSD and SDS leaders of his position, despite the fact that Nuno Melo stated that he did not receive a call from the Palacio de Belem.
But before the head of state can decide on the fall of the Madeira parliament, he will have to listen to the parties with seats in the regional hemisphere and convene the Council of State. Only after these meetings will it be possible to announce dissolution and call early elections.
Meanwhile, the PSD of Madeira will this Monday choose a replacement for Miguel Albuquerque as head of the regional government. There are several names on the table and the final decision will be announced at 5 p.m.
The person chosen as chief executive will also be the SDP and SDS candidate in future elections.
