A house fire in Bombarral left a woman homeless who was taken to Caldas da Rainha’s emergency department at the Centro Hospitalar do Oeste (CHO) for treatment, the local fire chief said.
Bombarral fire chief Pedro Lourenço told news agency Lusa that the fire “started in the freezer, in the kitchen” and was limited to that room of the house.
The only victim, a 67-year-old woman, was taken by firefighters to the emergency department in Caldas da Rainha do CHO for smoke inhalation and anxiety symptoms and did not require medical attention.
The fire occurred at 14:27, resulting in the mobilization of 13 operators and five vehicles.
According to the person in charge, the house needs minor repairs and cleaning before it can be lived in again.
Information about the temporary relocation of the woman was transmitted to the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Bombarral.
In a conversation with Luza, Mayor Ricardo Fernandez, responsible for civil protection, said that if the victim “needs to be relocated, he will do it,” and the service is evaluating this hypothesis.
