“A total of 90 vessels were inspected, including fishing vessels, marine tourism vessels, hotel vessels and landing craft,” the regulator said.
The actions in question are “aimed at checking the condition, operating conditions and correct use of radio communications equipment installed on board these vessels, since the presence of irregularities or anomalies may interfere with the operation of other services and/or impede the correct functioning of emergency communications.” , he adds.
According to Anacom, “during these activities, several violations or anomalies were discovered, including the use of frequencies not authorized for the maritime mobile service, equipment not certified or suitable for use on ships, analog radio encryption devices, the use of which is prohibited.” not authorized.”
There were also violations such as “having equipment installed on board that was not licensed to operate, confiscation of equipment, and situations where licenses had already expired.”
According to the regulator, “situations were also identified where frequencies other than those specified in the relevant station license were used.”
In these actions, Anacom is responsible for “checking the equipment”, given that “in most cases, the radio communication stations were installed and operated in accordance with applicable legislation.” Unusual situations were identified in 15 situations.
The promotions were held in the ports of Póvoa de Varzim, Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Leixões, Viana do Castelo and in the docks of the Douro River, Vila Nova de Gaia, Lamego and Peso da Regua, in the fishing ports Quarteira. , Peniche, Nazaré, the port of Sines and the harbor of Vilamoura; in Madeira and on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores.
