Chegui/Azores leader José Pacheco said this Monday that he will decide on a vote on the government program only after he knows the document and the composition of the regional executive, but insisted that he wants to be part of the government decision. .
“I don’t know the Government Program, I don’t know the elements of the government, I can’t comment on what I don’t know. I regret that the PS did this,” he said, addressing reporters.
José Pacheco spoke in Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira, after a hearing with the representative of the Republic of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Pedro Catarino.
The PSD/CDU/NPM coalition won the regional elections on the 4th with 43.56% of the vote, but elected 26 of the 57 members of the Legislative Assembly, requiring three more to achieve an absolute majority.
On election night, José Pacheco said that he would only make the government program viable if he united the executive and if the CDS-PP and PPM remained on the sidelines, but PSD/Azores leader José Manuel Bolheiro insisted this Friday that he intends to form a relative majority in the government without agreements with other parties.
After leaving a meeting with Pedro Catarino, regional leader Chegui said the Azores needed “stability.”
“We want stability in the Azores, we are open to dialogue, to work out a government solution in which Chega also has some participation, in a very positive way, and we reject any negative coalition aimed at overthrowing any government,” he said.
